SOTW1824 Gracie Abrams "Risk"
There's one interesting thing that comes with growing up and that's a weird sense of confidence. Once you realize it, things start to look quite different because even though you may not be sure of what's to come somehow it doesn't feel so threatening as when you were younger.
The song for this week comes from Gracie Abrams and I think it represents this feeling. If you know something about her, then you know she started her career with an EP released when she was only 20 years old. This first album is everything you expect from someone young dealing with the challenges of new found love and the following breakups, and I think it found success because it's really well written and projects some insecurities and the anxiety that comes with the age into the songs.
Now that she's 24 years old, her new single is filled with confidence. Like this feeling you get every once in a while after waking up, when you actually know everything is aligned and nothing can go wrong and it incredibly actually does go according to plan and on special occasions it goes even better than what you imagined. I think that joy can be felt in the song and it's sure to say it comes from maturing, knowing what you want and taking steps to get it. It's the classic when you know you know that everyone talks about.
