Sometimes it goes, sometimes it comes back. It's unstoppable, undeniable and relentless. I'm talking about the urge to go back to emo mode.
I was just, you know, casually scrolling through my YouTube Music –best music service, lowkey– when something magical happened: it suggested to me Flyleaf in the "Forgotten favorites" section. Immediate chills down my spine. Fucking amazing throwback. Definitely a forgotten favorite. And a forgotten crush, too.
Anyway, I started hearing the emblematic first album. It starts strong. I can now understand why my mom used to ask me to change the music. And track after track it develops so tastefully that it's hard to believe that the album will be 10 years old soon. I wrote 10 instinctively, but really it's been 20 years. 20 YEARS. It's from 2005. Some of you weren't even born. Some of you were born but not really living, yet. Think about it.
Anyway! The song that ties this album together is definitely "All Around Me". It's easily digestible for normal listeners but it still packs a punch for the freaks like me and the lyrics are about meeting God. What's not to like? So, please, delight yourself with the video below.
