SOTW0524 Too Close To Touch "Control"
In 2022, I rediscovered Too Close To Touch, a band I loved but unfortunately forgot about, only to find news about the lead singer, Keaton Pierce, passing away a few months prior to my rediscovery. I haven't stopped listening to them since then.
Well, on January 31st guitarist Mason Marble and drummer Kenny Downey shared a new video documentary explaining that they have unearthed a library of unfinished and unreleased material and created a new album called "For Keeps".
"Keeps" was one of the nicknames of Keaton and it couldn't be any more adequate for an album seeking to preserve his legacy and honoring him for the powerhouse vocalist, frontman and lyricist that he was.

The first single from "For Keeps" is "Control" and its accompanying video shows the process of artist Whit Flint while creating the album's artwork.

Now, this was a surprise from out of nowhere, but, as a fan, I really appreciate the thought and sensitivity from the remaining band members in the way they managed this ordeal. While it's sad that this is the band's last release, we can all be happy that it exists and will happen. Before the announcement we didn't have anything else from this brilliant band and, more importantly, from this brilliant frontman.
Keaton, may you find eternity in your music and music in your eternity. I hope you're happy.
